| Testi di riferimento | Machine Design: An Integrated Approach. Robert L. Norton |
| Obiettivi formativi | Gli obiettivi formativi sono declinabili attraverso i c.d. “descrittori di Dublino”: |
| Prerequisiti | Meccanica dei solidi. Scienza dei materiali. |

| Contents | The course will address the main topics related to the analysis and design of machine elements, with particular reference to the fundamentals of mechanics of materials, structural behavior, elasticity theory, the strength of materials in the plastic field, fatigue, instability, local notch effects, mechanical efficiency, and the functional and design analysis of the main mechanical components, including axles, shafts, joints, bearings, springs, gears, and belt drives. |
| Textbook and course materials | Machine Design: An Integrated Approach. Robert L. Norton |
| Course objectives | The intended learning outcomes are described according to the so-called “Dublin descriptors”: |
| Prerequisites | Mechanics of solids; material science. |
| Teaching methods | Frontal lessons of 2 hours each on the different topics of the subject accompanied by exercises in the classroom on the application of the knowledge acquired. |
| Assessment methods | The learning assessment includes a written test, with exercises on the teaching topics, which if deemed sufficient gives access to the oral exam which will test the ability to make critical connections, the ability to summarize and in-depth analysis. |
| Other information | In order to make final preparation more effective and thus successfully pass the exam, attendance in class is recommended. |
| Detailed syllabus | Extended course |
