Testi di riferimento | "Introduction to Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics", J.M. Smith, H.C. Van Ness, M.M. Abbott - McGraw Hill |
Prerequisiti | Matematica e Fisica. |
Metodologie didattiche | Lezioni frontali. Teoria ed esercizi. |

Contents | This course provides the student in environmental engineering the basic knowledge of thermodynamics of ideal substances with particular attention to the phase equilibria of ideal mixtures. The course also aims at providing the student with the basic concepts of mass transfer with a single independent variable, developed in parallel to the heat transfer. The topics dealt with are the principles on which the purification treatment of pollutants in gaseous, liquid and solid matrixes is based. |
Textbook and course materials | "Introduction to Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics", J.M. Smith, H.C. Van Ness, M.M. Abbott - McGraw Hill |
Course objectives | The course aims at providing the fundamental knowledge of mass balances, of thermodynamics of mixtures and of mass transfer. The student must be able to model simple systems and processes in which there are phase equilibria of multicoponent mixtures, and energy transformations and/or energy and mass transfers. The course gives priority to an engineering approach to problem solving, highlighting the applicative aspects and teaching the student on how to use tools and methods typical of a wide spectrum technical knowledge. In addition the students will acquire the tools of transport phenomena necessary to design of the plants of environmental chemical engineering. |
