Prerequisiti | Analisi Matematica, Fisica, Chimica |

Contents | The discipline deals with the main topics of inert, non-hazardous and hazardous waste management and treatment and it is divided into three parts: the first concerns the regulation in the field of waste management and the characterization of waste; the second is focused on waste management procedures, with particular reference to the principles of best available technologies (BREFs – Waste Treatment); the third presents the criteria for the design, management and verification of plants and technologies for the sustainable treatment and disposal of solid wastes. |
Textbook and course materials | Title: Ingegneria dei Rifiuti Solidi - Authors: Piero Sirini, George Tchobanoglous, Rosario Carlo Noto La Diega – Casa editrice: McGraw-Hill Education; |
Course objectives | The discipline aims at providing the basic concepts related to the management of solid wastes and the abilities to understand the problem of solid waste treatment in order to define and design the best technologies for the treatment and minimization of solid waste, also considering the Best Available Techniques (BAT) reference documents (BREFs). The course also aims at providing the knowledge for carrying out the most valuable choices, both in terms of cost-effectiveness and performance of technologies, to solve the problems related to solid waste treatment, in the framework of the sustainable management of waste. |
Prerequisites | Mathematical analysis, Physics, Chemistry |
Teaching methods | Oral classes: theory (30 hours) and exercises (18 hours) |
Evaluation methods | Oral test - Assessment of design works. |
