What is the mathematics that makes secure communication possible? What are the most frequently used cryptographic primitives? We will have a look at well-established and well-understood primitives like cyclic groups in modular arithmetic and cyclic groups on the elliptic curves. But what are the crucial cryptographic primitives of blockchain technologies and cryptocurrencies? We will briefly cover pairings, zeroknowledge proofs, and polynomial commitments.
